Sparks was incorporated as a town in 1888 when a post office was established. The town was named after W.B. Sparks, the president of the Georgia Southern and Florida Railway. The town is located near center of Cook County and bordered by Adel. In 2020, there were 2,043 people with 778 households and 572 families residing in the town. Sparks has a winery called Horse Creek Winery that is located on 40 acres of some of the highest quality of Muscadine grapes in America, how cool. Over the past 15 years, they have extended the winery to two other locations, 5-star restaurant, event venues, wine tastings and gift shop! Some of the items in the gift shop are jellies, honey, nuts, flour, pickles and oils. Sparks also has a state park name Reed Bingham State Park that is also near Adel on the borderline. The park is 375-acre lake with boaters, skiers, and fishing. There are several things you can do such as biking, hiking, miniature golf, and make reservations for family events that can be all day. I contacted SERVPRO to help with what we thought was just water damage. SERVPRO sent a team the house right away. Blake and Holden identified the septic tank as the source of the water intrusion. They immediately went to work once the septic tank was serviced. They did a fantastic job drying and disinfecting the house, as well as removing all contaminated materials.
