Doerun Georgia was officially founded in 1900 and stands today with a population of around 722 people as of 2021. The founder is Reverend Williams who was a pioneer settler. This agricultural community in Colquitt County gained its name when pioneer hunters deemed it “a perfect doe run”. Doerun is home to several farming operations including Mobley Gin, Colquitt Agriculture, Ford Flying Services and Farmer’s Seed Company. Doerun is also home to the Tyson Steel Wildlife Museum which includes displays pf exotic wildlife from all over the world as well as local wildlife from the Southeast. Doerun Pitcher Plant Bog Wildlife Management Area is perfect for those looking to enjoy Georgia’s coastal plains and take a close look at a bog ecosystem. Doerun Pitcher Plant Bog also features opportunities for archer deer hunting, turkey hunting and small game hunting. Doerun is known for their annual May Day Festival on the first Saturday in May.
