Adel was incorporated into a town 1889 but was originally named Puddleville. The town’s first postmaster Joel Parrish changed the name inspired by Philadelphia. The town is located just south center of Cook County. In 2020, the population was 5,571 with 2,111 households and 1,108 residing in the city. The Cook County School system holds pre-school to twelfth grade with two elementary schools, a middle and high school along with 188 teachers and over 3200 in students. Moving forward, Adel holds a downtown event every year for four days in Spring, July, October and Small Business Saturday in November for shopping, vendors, food trucks, entertainment and more. The town also holds a Daylily Festival that brings nearly 6,000 people all from South Georgia which is held each May. The festival includes Daylily City 5K Run, handcrafted items from all over the region, food vendors, bouncy houses, music and so much more. Adel also holds a Christmas in Cook for the children to come enjoy slides and races along with Christmas Tree lighting. I contacted SERVPRO to help with what we thought was just water damage. SERVPRO sent a team the house right away. Blake and Holden identified the septic tank as the source of the water intrusion. They immediately went to work once the septic tank was serviced. They did a fantastic job drying and disinfecting the house, as well as removing all contaminated materials.
