Rogersville, Alabama is located in Lauderdale County, in the northwest corner of the state. It can be accessed by U.S 72, which runs east-west and Highway 207, which runs north-south. Rogersville was long known as Rodgersville after a family from South Carolina that settled there. Andrew and Patience Rodgers purchased 79. 8 acres in 1818. The land eventually became what is now the downtown business district. On October 4, 1825, the Post Office was established, and the “d” was dropped from the towns name. It has been known as Rogersville ever since. The first accredited high school in Lauderdale County was opened in Rogersville in 1912. On the fist Saturday of each month sponsors provide live entertainment.  It also hosts a Heritage Days festival in June, a multi-day bluegrass festival in July with music, food, and crafts.  October is a month filled with fall festivals and December with Christmas festivals.  Just southwest of Rogersville is Joe Wheeler State Park.  The park features boating, fishing, camping, and overnight accommodations. To the southeast is Elk River State Park.
