Latah, a small town outside of Spokane, has had many names including Hangman's Creek and Alpha. In 1883 It was finally named Latah Creek after the nearby creek. This name comes from the native word “lahtoo” which means “stream where little fish are caught”.
Surrounded by lush green fields, this small farming community may seem like just another rural town but it has some amazing history tied to it. In 1876, while examining the ground near the creek, a couple of brothers discovered mammoth fossils. With additional digging, they found other animals' fossils as well as evidence of prehistoric men. After this discovery, others flocked to the area and more fossils were found. The fossils were eventually sold to the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago and can still be seen there.
Latah has many historical buildings in the area including the Latah schoolhouse, the White Swan Hotel, and other Victorian homes. Many of these buildings have been weathered and are now in the process of being restored.
As winter rolls into Latah, snowy days and very cold temperatures come rolling in. When this happens Latah residents begin to light fires in their fireplaces to stay warm. We had an unfortunate water leak and couldn’t pinpoint it for a while, hence the morning of our Christmas party the ceiling showed a nice water balloon ready to pop exactly in the middle of all our festivities! We called SERVPRO and they were out the same day. They made sure we and our guests weren’t going to get wet and fixed it enough to enjoy the evening. From there on they managed to get everything done and looking super.

I called these folks out to get an estimate on our clean up job. After the quote we agreed to have them do the work. And unbelievably, they came in under budget!! By almost $600!! That's unheard of these days! Their guys were fantastic! Super friendly and extremely quick! I highly recommend these folks!!!
