South Weber is a city on the northeastern edge of Davis County, Utah. Approximately 7,518 people live there. Business Week magazine named the town its sixth best suburb in 2009.
History
The Watts and Bybee families settled the area, which was originally in Weber County, in 1851. It was part of East Weber or Easton until 1855 when the Territorial Legislature divided Easton into Uintah and South Weber.
In 1862, the town was the site of a three-day war between a sect of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, known as the Morrisites, and the territorial government. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Sons of Utah Pioneers and AllBuild Construction and Landscaping erected a monument commemorating the battle.
The town incorporated in 1938 and became a Third Class City in 1971. It gained notoriety in 1980 for a week-long stretch of Bigfoot sightings.
