Beaver is a town in Southern Utah situated in a valley with the Tusher mountains on the east and the Mineral Mountains on the west. The land in the valley is mostly flat ranch land suitable for grazing horses and cattle. The Beaver River flows through it. About 3,120 people live in the town that is the county seat of Beaver County.
History
The first settlers began to arrive in Beaver in 1856. They incorporated the town in 1867. Refugees from the Utah and Black Hawk wars boosted the town's population in 1886. In 1898, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints founded the Murdock Academy as a branch of the Brigham Young Academy. The school operated until 1922.
Beaver was the first town in Utah to get electricity, thanks to a hydroelectric plant on the Beaver River. The town won awards for the best-tasting water in the United States in 2006 and 2010. Notable people from Beaver include the famous outlaw, Butch Cassady, motion picture star Betty Compson and the inventor Phil T. Farnsworth.

Golfers will enjoy the Canyon Breeze golf course which styles itself as "Utah's toughest 9-hole golf course." Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of camping opportunities in the area, including the local canyons and mountains in the Tushar Range to the east. Songbirds and hummingbirds are frequent visitors to the area. Puffer Lake and the other mountain lakes near Beaver attract fishermen and sports enthusiasts from around the state. The American Discovery Trail, which is a system of trails that connect across the entire United States, runs through Beaver.
