Maypearl, Texas is genuinely a “pearl” of a small, rural Texas town. Located in western Ellis County, 11 miles southwest of Waxahachie and 39 miles southwest of Dallas, it was renamed for the two daughters, May and Pearl, of an International-Great Northern Railroad executive when the railroad came through the tiny town of Eyrie in 1903. Then in 1914, the town of Maypearl became the City of Maypearl. Fittingly for a small Texas city nestled in the brushy rural area of north central Texas, this one boasts the humble Mesquite as its town tree.

Today, the city still has a population of less than 1,000, where a quiet, rural lifestyle reminiscent of days past can be enjoyed in this neighborly community. And like most small Texas cities, they take enormous pride in their Maypearl High School Panthers. Most Friday nights come alive with cheering for the local football or basketball team.
