The City of Huntington is a beautiful small town located in East Texas’ “Pineywoods Country”. This site is named for Collis Potter Huntington, the chairman of the board of the Southern Pacific Railroad when the town was formed and one of the Big Four. The Texas Forestry Museum is home to the story of the forests of Texas. The complexity of the natural resource, the legacy of the industry, and the current and future role of forest management practices can be explored through three galleries, outdoor exhibits, and an Urban Wildscape Trail.
One of the largest museums of its kind in the United States, the Texas Forestry Museum is a fun place for the whole family to look at the past, present and future of trees - How we grow trees, harvest trees, transport trees, process trees, and use trees in our daily lives. Featured exhibits include Sawmill Town, Paper Mill, Money Trees, logging train, fire tower, and Urban Wildscape Trail.
