The City of McEwen was established in 1869 and is located in Humphreys County Tennessee. Most recent data show the population as 1750. The City of McEwen is governed by the Board of Mayor and 5 Alderman. McEwen is the home of the Irish Picnic, a fundraiser for the local St. Patrick Church and School. It was established and recognized in 1988 by the Guinness Book of World Records as "The World's Largest Outdoor Barbecue". The event is held annually on the last Friday and Saturday in July. Living in McEwen offers residents a rural feel and most residents own their homes.
