Louisville TN
Louisville TN is a beautiful riverfront town in Blount County that has seen a resurgence of growth in the last two decades. Its beautiful and convenient location make it a very desirable place to live. Louisville started as a trade hub because of its location on the Tennessee River and in the 1800s was a key port in the southeast. “Louisville really grew around the 1840s and became a trade center due to its location,” says Phil Mummert, Town historian. “There were several stores, warehouses, wagon makers, five blacksmiths, a distillery, a saddle-tree factory and a flour mill.”
As with many towns in Blount County, the Civil War greatly affected Louisville. It was often raided for livestock and merchandise. Families in the area were often divided over war. After the war, transportation shifted from water to rail and the geographic location of Louisville was not desirable for the railroad. Thus began a decline in the economy and prominence of Louisville. Neighbors leaned on each other and began helping out even more. Louisville became a very tight knit community that still exists today. Louisville is now home to beautiful homes with numerous lakefront communities dotting the landscape. There are beautiful parks, walkways and several restaurants and marinas. It is truly a peaceful place to be. It is considered a bedroom community of both Knoxville and Maryville because of its proximity to the Pellissippi Parkway.
