The town of Doyle was originally known as Doyle Station. It was developed as a railroad stop in the early 1880s. Doyle College, which operated for more than four decades, was established by 1884. The town is connected to the surrounding areas by U.S. State 70, State Route 285, and State Route 111. Doyle is also home to a large limestone mine. The Caney Fork and Calfkiller rivers that flow nearby provide lots of fun recreational activities.
