A post office called Wasta has been in operation since 1907. Wasta is a name derived from the Dakota word "wašté", meaning "good"Wasta is a "very" small town, a gas station, a fabulous military museum and a bar. You can take in the Badlands on your way, you might drop down through Interior, S.D. and drive through the Badlands then come out just south of Wall. We are about 20 miles from the Badlands, 40 miles from Rapid City, and Beautiful Black Hills. As of the census of 2000, there were 75 people, 35 households, and 19 families living in the town. The population density was 390.7 people per square mile (152.4/km2). There were 46 housing units at an average density of 239.6 per square mile (93.5/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.67% White and 1.33% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.33% of the population.The median income for a household in the town was $26,375, and the median income for a family was $26,250. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $25,000 for females. There were 17.6% of families and 15.7% of the population living below the poverty line, including 38.1% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.The Redwood Motel in Wasta was used extensively as a filming site for the movie Thunderheart. My 2015 Ford Explorer Sport sat outside for 8 weeks during Covid19. I didn't need to drive. When I finally started it I found that a packrat or mouse had died into the vehicle's air system. It was undrivable. I mean, it literally was a health hazard. I worked with American Family Insurance. I have full coverage and they suggested SERVPRO. It took several weeks but that was fine. SERVPRO killed the smell plus found three more dead mice under the battery. My beautiful Explorer is perfectly clean now. It looks brand new and now I can enjoy driving it again. What a relief! Thank you SERVPRO and thank goodness I had full coverage insurance with American Family Insurance who was very good about this whole ordeal. Hallelujah.

SERVPRO came out to clean my carpets and did a great job! We had some pet stains from one of our dogs and just general wear and dirty. The crew was on time, did a great job of getting up the stains and now my carpet looks wonderful! I really appreciate their work!
