Pringle, South Dakota is a small town in Custer County who like many small towns in the area got its humble beginnings along the burgeoning western trails of the 1800’s. The town got its start as a stage stop on the Sidney-Custer Trail.  It started as a small settlement called Point of Rocks along the trail named after the stagecoach station located there and the town renamed itself to Pringle in 1890 (when the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy railroad came through the area) after a local rancher’s wife Anna Pringle who provided hospitality to the railroad crews when they came through town.

Pringle has a humid continental climate which makes the summers warm, and the winters are cold extremely variable winters due to conflict between cold artic air from Canada and warm Chinook winds.
