Victor Mills is a small suburban neighborhood located in Greer, South Carolina. Built in the 1890s, Victor Mill covered land from Daniel Avenue and Snow Street between S.C. 101/South Line Street and Victor Avenue. It was one of the major textile plants in the Greenville/Spartanburg area, and in the 1920s served as a model for other mill communities. It had homes, churches, schools and recreational facilities for workers and their families.
Today, Victor Mills is an old mill village with smaller less expensive homes. Portions of the area are in the process of being redeveloped providing residents with a newer choice for housing opportunities. Currently, Victor Mills has a 13.4% vacancy rate, which is well above average compared to other U.S. neighborhoods. Most vacant housing here is vacant year round, implying that it is not ever occupied or rented. This could either signal that there is a weak demand for real estate in the neighborhood or that large amount of new housing has been built and not yet occupied. Either way, if you live here, you may find many of the homes or apartments are empty.
