Orient, Oregon, is an unincorporated community in Multnomah County, Oregon. It is located at Orient Drive and 302nd Avenue. In 1880, the Orient Mill opened. This was a steam driven sawmill operated and founded by a Scottish immigrant. The wife of the immigrant was the first Japanese citizen to ever settle in the state of Oregon.
Orient is home to the Gresham Barlow School District https://www.gresham.k12.or.us/. West and east Orient elementary schools are located in the area. A quick trip to visit Mt. Hood is easy from our place, as the 26 freeway is located right in our area. There is also a steam driven Sternwheeler named after our community.
Our community precipitation most days of the year apart from a few short summer months. Precipitation is rain, snow, sleet, or hail. With mostly rain, the winters are very wet, cold and overcast. The chance of rain and wet days is very common, which can be a contributor to water damage and mold issues. Summers are dry and clear. In recent years, fires have made their way towards the area and cause fire and smoke damage. July and August are great to visit.
