Oceanport Cleanup and Restoration

Oceanport NJ was created in 1920 and has been listed among the Best Places to Live in NJ according to NJ Monthly magazine.  The most notable venue in town is the Monmouth Park Race Track which features thoroughbred horse racing including the largest race of the year, The Haskell Invitational Handicap.  With the legalization of sports betting in NJ, plans are underway to make Monmouth Park more of a year-round attraction which could include concerts and additional restaurants.

Despite this significant venue, much of the town consists of quiet family neighborhoods and parks.  Blackberry Bay park is home to many town-wide activities including sports, movies under the stars, and Boy Scout campouts.  The town is surrounded by the Shrewsbury River on 3 sides so many residents enjoy taking advantage of the river for fishing, boating, crabbing, and sailing.  The Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club runs sailing camps for kids and hosts an annual regatta. The Oceanport Paddle Club, located next to The Marina at Oceanport restaurant is also a favorite of locals.

Looking to spend an afternoon or evening?  Check out the Blu Grotto.  Located next to Monmouth Park, this unique venue offers miniature golf, an upscale restaurant, and an outdoor area that often features local musicians.  Other restaurants are located along Main St.
