Wakefield got its start in the year 1881, following construction of the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railway through the territory.  It was named for L. W. Wakefield, a railroad engineer. Wakefield was incorporated in 1883. Wakefield is a city in Dixon and Wayne Counties in Nebraska. The population was 1,451 at the 2010 census. The train track ran through the town and was completed from Sioux City, Iowa, to Wakefield in 1881. The first depot was built that same year and was finished on January 1, 1882. It was built out of clapboard, but that didn't hold up very well. Around 1925, a second depot was rebuilt on the same location as the first one. There were around 22 to 28 trains a day that came through Wakefield in the late 1920s and early 1930s; six to eight of those were passenger trains and the rest were for freight. Around 1940, trains in and out of the town no longer carried passengers. The Depot now is part of the Wakefield Heritage Organization to be used as a museum. The 2023 school year, there are 2 public schools serving 551 students in Wakefield, NE. They are the Wakefield High School and Wakefield Elementary School. There are 6 church's in Wakefield. Wakefield is about a 40-minute drive Southwest of Sioux City Iowa along Hwy 35, and Wakefield is about a 50-minute drive Northeast of Norfolk Nebraska along Hwy 35. Wakefield is known for its Balloon Days. As they are celebrating the15th annual Hot Air Balloon Festival we wanted to go BIG!! In order for us to achieve this we have joined forces with the City of Wakefield Youth Rec’s annual BBQ Bash to bring you BALLOONS N’ BBQ. Many know, Wakefield, Nebraska is a busy rural town located in Northeast Nebraska. Nestled between corn and soybean fields, it's a great place to visit and to live!

What our Wakefield customers are saying

I had ripped up carpet and removed it from my basement and upon inspection I noticed a couple of questionable spots along the baseboards. When I contacted SERVPRO at about 8 PM on a Saturday evening the lady connected me with my local SERVPRO business. The gentleman called me within a half hour and stated that he was currently on my side of town at another job and would be able to swing by quickly. I let him know that I had Carpet coming the next day and I needed to know if I had to treat these questionable spots before my install. He conducted a full inspection with his special cameras to identify moisture and looked at the questionable spots. He explained what he saw and that there was no need to treat. SERVPRO was thorough, professional, and courteous!

SERVPRO cleaned and shampooed the carpet in my house last week. They were extremely professional and did an amazing job. The final product was much better than the people who did it last time and they charged me substantially less. I would highly recommend them to anybody who needs any of their services.

Adam (owner) and Josh with SERVPRO were outstanding. They called to confirm when they would arrive. I had them clean my air ducts and the quote was honored no matter how bad my ducts were.
