History of Retreat
Early history of Retreat, North Carolina starts with the Roanoke Indians. The name, "Retreat", comes from the hundreds of acres of land that was granted to settlers in 1745. Dutch traders settled in what is now Hurdle's Landing near the Roanoke River in 1747 and became the first European settlers. During this time period, the area (now known as Retreat) was known as "The Town of New Bern." Later on, some 800 settlers chose to move from Craven County to the banks river where they started a trading community.

SERVPRO arrived Wednesday morning 9 A.M., went to work cleaning up, sanitizing and making me feel safe. That was most important! Shawn, a young fellow, was knowledgeable and quick. His first comment was "I'm sorry." He was there to help!! I'm not quite through with this catastrophe but SERVPRO definitely got me on the right track! Thanks!
