Byhalia is a town in Marshall County, MS with a population of just under 1,500 people.  Byhalia was founded in 1838 and named after Byhalia Creek which flows through it.  The word Byhalia comes from Chickasaw, its first inhabitants,  word meaning “Great White Oaks”.  The small town is filled with antebellum homes, churches, and a beautiful landscape consisting of rolling hills and oak tree-lined streets.

The town of Byhalia grew slowly due to the proximity of Holly Springs and the lack of a railroad.  A railroad was completed in 1885 that joined Memphis, Holly Springs, and the Byhalia area.  This new mode of transportation allowed the town to start to grow.  The downtown area of Byhalia still has existing buildings that date back to 1884.  Unfortunately, time, fire and previous damage from the Civil War destroyed many of the original homes in the Byhalia area.  Many of the original structures were destroyed due to major fire damage in 1970.  This area has a 75% greater than average chance to see serious wind damage due to tornadoes.  In 1952 and 1971 major tornadoes tore through the area creating storm and water damage.  With its close proximity to the Mississippi River, flooding is another natural disaster that Byhalia has to deal with.

Dealing with rain and wind damage is something that the Byhalia community has had to deal with multiple times over the years.  The SERVPRO team has been serving this area for over 25 years and will continue to be the leader in fire damage and any other remediation needs that the Byhalia community has.  Contact the SERVPRO experts today.
