The city of Nixa traces if origins to farmers who pioneered their farms along the wooded streams near what is now present-day Nixa. The growing community quickly became a stop over and crossroads for teamsters hauling freight traveling between Springfield and Arkansas. Still to this day more than ever Nixa is considered the Crossroads of the Ozarks, with excellent schools, explosive growth and many opportunities for its residents, Nixa is a flourishing community to live in. Known for our local festival, Sucker Days, Music, Arts and Craft Festival that has been celebrated since 1957.  The family friendly event is held annually in May on Nixa’s Main Street, with live entertainment and local crafts, sucker fish and other foods are sold.
