Tucked away in southern Kalamazoo County is Vicksburg, Michigan. In the early 1800’s, the area was first settled by John Vickers. It took several tries and a petition from residents, but they finally settled on Vicksburg in the late 1800’s.
One thing that you can’t miss coming into town is the Vicksburg Mill! The mill was in full swing for almost 100 years! It employed a lot of Vicksburg residents and at its height could produce 35,000 lbs of paper a day! It closed its doors in the early 2000s but has recently been given new life! In 2016 it was also added to the National Register of Historic Places.
