Hampstead is a small town located in rural Carroll County with a population of just over 6,000, according to the 2010 census. This small incorporated town is located in the northeastern portion of Carroll County. It was the arrival of the Western Maryland Railroad in 1879 that gave the economic boost that Hampstead needed.
