A school that started as early as 1893 and a post office as early as 1895 helped kick-start Ednor, an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland about 17 miles north of Washington D.C., the country's capital city.
Since it's a tiny town, residents shop and dine in nearby cities such as Ashton-Sandy Spring, Spencerville, Cloverly and Norwood – all within 2 miles. The entire area is also considered to be part of greater Silver Spring, MD.
While here, you might want to pay a visit to some of the other surrounding locations: Bethesda, Rockville, Ellicott City, MD, and Arlington and Falls Church, Virginia.
Sandy Spring Museum is nearby Ednor, which has some good-size hotels including Courtyard Silver Spring North, Hilton Garden Inn Silver Spring and Residence Inn Silver Spring – all 5 to 6 miles away. Montgomery County Public Schools serves Ednor and surrounding towns, with both Sherwood and Blake High Schools just 2 miles away.
Among the parks & recreation facilities include the Rachel Carson Greenway, a planned 25-mile stretch of trails, spanning from the historic Adelphi Mill in Prince George's County north through eastern Montgomery County, Maryland to Patuxent River State Park, and incorporating existing Northwest Branch trails. The greenway was proposed as part of a 1998 Countywide Park Trails Plan. There's the 24.2-acre Ednor Local Park, which features a playground, lighted tennis & basketball courts, and softball & baseball fields.
St. Andrew Cathedral is a Ukrainian Orthodox cathedral in Silver Spring, and is the seat of the Archbishop of New York-Washington.
