Lakeview Cleanup and Restoration

Lakeview is a small neighborhood in the city of New Orleans, located right up against Lake Pontchartrain.  After the city of New Orleans was established, communities started forming just outside the main part of the city.  Because New Orleans and its surrounding areas are bordered by the winding Mississippi River and Lake Ponchartrain, the land begins to run out pretty quickly before you have to cross some kind of body of water.  Lakeview is as far north of New Orleans as you can get until you hit Lake Pontchartrain.

Being so close to Lake Pontchartrain offers the Lakeview community a few things that other areas don’t have.  Both the New Orleans Yacht Club and the Southern Yacht Club are located in Lakeview.  The majority of the Lakefront park area belongs to this neighborhood as well.  The Lakefront Park area was very popular during COVID quarantine because it allowed many people to get out of their homes, but still, be able to enjoy the park in a safe environment.

The Lakeview area saw some of the most devastation during Hurricane Katrina.  One of the new landmarks that divides Orleans Parish from Jefferson Parish is the 17th Street Canal.  This is where the levee broke that flooded a large part of New Orleans.  Due to all of the flood damage and storm damage, many homes in the area were either destroyed by the storm or were demolished shortly thereafter.  This has caused most of the area to be completely rebuilt into a brand-new neighborhood.  

During the Lakeview rebuilding phase, many families had to deal with fire damage due to power issues in the area, as well as a lack of services.  Being in the Gulf South, as well as touching Lake Pontchartrain, the Lakeview area deals with its fair share of storm damage and wind damage each year.  With the wind coming off of the lake, there isn’t a lot of barrier protection for this neighborhood.  The citizens of this community are resilient and have been mentally and physically preparing for the next major event.  SERVPRO has also been preparing for the next emergency and our trained staff is here to help with any fire, water, wind, flood, or mold damage that your home or business might incur.  We will be with you every step of the way.
