35 miles northwest of Chicago, along the Fox River Valley is the city of Elgin Illinois. The rich soil of the basin brought settlers from out east to settle this area. Early industry included milk, cheese and watch making. The educational system boasts many distinguished graduates including 5 navy admirals, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and many others. Elgin is also the 6th largest, and one of the fastest growing cities in the state. Elgin has a long history and has buildings and homes that reflect that very storied past. Elgin has some of the oldest cobblestone homes in the Midwest. It also has some notable structures including the Elgin Tower Building and the Elgin Professional Building.
