The City of Durant has a population of 1,871 (2020 Census) and operates under a mayor-council form of government. Five council members serve with staggered four-year terms. The mayor is elected every two years and serves two years. Durant was platted in 1854 by Benjamin Brayton. The Chicago, Rock Island Candadian Railroad was built through Durant in 1855. The settlement was first named Brayton for its founder, but the name was later changed to Durant for Thomas C. Durant one of the pioneers of the Transcontinental Railroad and an individual who contributed the bulk of funds needed to build the town's first public school. Durant is home to the Durant Wildcats, which offer many atheletic and scholastic opportunities for the children of Durant and surrounding cities!

We had a septic back up and sump pump all go out at once, of course, on a late Friday afternoon. We called SERVPRO on Saturday morning with low hopes of being able to get anyone out due to weekend hours and scheduling, and not only could they get someone out that day, they came within about an hour and a half. The gentleman, David W., was the tech on service and he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I feel he went above and beyond explaining things thoroughly, was very friendly, and had our best interest at heart. When he left, three other servicemen came out and they were equally friendly and knowledgeable. I feel like the water in the basement is just one thing I don't have to worry about, they have it covered. Peace of mind is definitely worth it.
