Shannon is an unicorporated community and the census designanted place (CDP) in Floyd County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Rome Georgia Metroploitan Statistical Area.  Shannon is located in northeastern Floyd County between Rome and Calhoun County, just off Highway 53. As of the 2020 census there were 1,919 people, 784 households, and 546 families residing in the census designated place. Shannon is in the Floyd County School District, which was founded in 1888. A zoned secondary school is Model High School, which is a public school in Shannon and serves grades nine through twelve. 

The first settlement at Shannon, first called Ridge Valley, then Hermitage, was made in the 1830s.

Harold Lloyd Griggs was an American Professional Baseball Player, a right hand pitcher who appeared in three full seasons and part of another season from 1956-1959 for the Washington Senators of Major League Baseball. Harold "Hal" Griggs is a native of Shannon. He was considered a work horse as a minor league pitcher, logging over 200 innings pitched for his first six seasons in professional baseball. 

If visit Shannon, some neat places to go are the Muesum of Flight, Horse back riding at Barnsley Resort and enjoy at nice relaxing spa day at Barnsley Resort. Pasquale's pizza, Sam's Burger Deli and Roma Mia Ristorante Italiano are some nice places to eat.
