It is believed, the towns name Lindale might have been selected from a novel a resident had read. A post office called Lindale has been in operation since 1883.
During the 20th century, the Lindale Textile Mill was formed by the community, and located in the center of Lindale. In the early part of the 21st century, the building was abandoned. The West Point- Pepperell owned the Mill for the majority of its existence which lead to the Lindale community to be commonly referred to as "Pepperell". Local schools which are named after the West Point Pepperell Mill and are part of the Floyd County School System, carries the name Pepperell Middle and Pepperell High School. West Point- Pepperell Griffin as the mascot, under the name "Pepperell Dragons".
A fun fact about this town, in 2015 the science fiction film The Divergent Series : Allegiant (the third installment of the Divergent series) was filmed in Lindale, at the Lindale Mill. Lindale is credited in the movie's final credits.
Berry College is a beautiful campus in which students from all over some to attend and isn't far from Lindale as it is in Rome.
