History of Delray Beach
We know the area was first inhabited by various Native American groups. The first non-indigenous residents were a party of African Americas from the panhandle of Florida. From 1884 to 1984, the agrarian community grew so much in the population they needed to establish a school.
Eventually, the area was incorporated and chartered by the state of Florida.
The city of Delray has begun to restore some of the historical structures and landmarks over the last decade or so. Some of these historical places include the Colony Hotel and Old School Square.
