Lake Asbury is a quaint little town in Clay County where a world wide rock star called home; Ronnie Van Zant, founder and singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd. He died at the young age of 29, not making it to see his 30th birthday. However, the legend lives on through his brother, Johnny Van Zant. The community named a park after him, Ronnie Van Zant Park. The park includes multiple play grounds, nature trails, tennis courts, a pond for fishing, baseball diamond, basketball, and pickleball courts. You can find this park busy on any given weekend, especially during the Fall months to use the fire pits for roasting marshmallows.
