The town of Monroe is situated in Connecticut's Fairfield County's eastern region.  After numerous boundary changes and land purchases, Monroe officially incorporated as a town in 1823.  James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States, is who the town is named after.  The town is almost exclusively rural, with single family homes dominating the landscape. In the center of town sits the Village Square Shopping Center, where residents can get groceries and visit other locally owned establishments.  The most notable residents of Monroe were Ed and Lorraine Warren, arguably the most famous paranormal investigators ever.  They were both born in nearby Bridgeport, and lived in Monroe until their deaths in 2006 and 2019, respectively.  One of the biggest attractions in Monroe is a museum that houses artifacts from their investigations.
