La Crescenta-Montrose is a small city in an incorporated area of Los Angeles. It borders the San Gabriel Valley, Angeles
Forest, the Foothill Freeway, and the Verdugo Mountains. It was originally home to the Tongva people, but was taken over by
Mexico. It was then given to the United States as a land grant in 1843 from Mexico. This city is especially small measuring
at only about 3.4 miles wide.

In 1946 there was a motel built along Foothill Boulevard. This motel was named La Crescenta Motel and featured an L shaped
building which was became known as a classic postwar building shape. This became a staple in the city's history and still
stands today. In fact, this motel became so famous that it has actually been featured in many movies and TV shows such as
Criminal Minds, and Glee.

The climate of La Crescenta-Montrose is typical of Southern California. The summers are dry, and warm, while the winters are
long, cold, and wet. Rainfall in the city is common about 6.5 months out of the year. This season usually lasts from October
to April, with the most rainfall occurring in February. In February you can expect an average rainfall of about 3 inches,
which for Southern California is quite a lot.
