The history of Casas Adobes, Arizona began with Spanish explorers in the late 16th century. The area was part of Spain until President Thomas Jefferson purchased it from the Spanish following the Mexican-American War. Casas Adobes was founded as a small community in the late 1800s, but didn’t really become a town until the 1950s. By the 1960s there was enough population for it to incorporate, and since then Casas Adobes has grown into an urban center with restaurants, shops and streets (and houses) named after deserts and nations.
