Yellville, Arkansas. In the early 1800's when the first hunters and trappers came to Yellville, they found a Native village here, located around the present site of the American Legion Hut. The town grew slowly, the town site was well located on the banks of Crooked Creek, and the land was fertile. The town was for many years covered with cedar timber. Most of Yellville was destroyed by fire during the Civil War. For a long time, Yellville had neither courthouse, church, school, jail, nor even many homes. Yellville was rebuilt and incorporated as a town in 1872.

In the early 1930's, Yellville had the distinction of being the only town in the state with an all-woman city government. Mrs. Virge Walton was Mayor; O'Beta Carson was Treasurer; Lena Nowlin was Recorder. 

Present day landmark, the Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center is one of the nine Arkansas Game and Fish Nature Centers. The 421 Ozark acres that comprise FBCCNC lie in a 2.75-mile bend of Crooked Creek just above Kelley's access. The property, a former dairy farm, is now the site of a joint conservation education project between the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. A generous donation by retired Yellville-Summit schoolteacher and counselor, Fred Berry, set the project in motion in 1999. Donations from Berry, and others, provided the land, education building, pavilion and other improvements. The center was opened and dedicated on June 17, 2005.

The weather climate in the area is fairly mild; however, some winters can bring extreme cold with ice and springtime can bring some heavy rains at times. Summers can get quite hot and humid. I came home to a completely flooded basement on a Friday afternoon. After speaking with the insurance company I called SERVPRO and a very nice lady answered my call quickly and the first team member showed up within 30 minutes. Shortly after that the team arrived and got straight to work. They stayed late into the evening getting as much done as possible. They continued working long hard hours throughout the weekend and by Sunday afternoon everything was starting to dry out. The basement is just under 2000 square feet and the water company report estimated that it was about 2800 gallons of water. They got everything dry and cleaned up way faster than I thought possible. They had to carry all the materials out from the basement and up a steep hill outside the house on what was probably the hottest day of the year and didn't complain one time (they were happy to be there helping). I never post reviews, but but this team deserves it. They were nice, considerate, professional, fast and extremely hard working. I am very happy with their work. They coordinated with the insurance company without me having to do anything other than getting the claim started. I would highly recommend them to anyone (and to shut your water off if you're going to be away from your house for an extended period of time). Well done team, 5 star plus!

Called on a Saturday and they were here in a couple of hours for a washer problem that had leaked in the laundry room. They had everything removed that was wet within a couple of hours after that and equipment in place to dry out the laundry and in the crawl space. Josh and German were awesome to work with. If I needed something I sent a note and received a response quickly. Highly recommend these guys if a water issue catches by surprise.
