Piedmont is a city in Calhoun and Cherokee Counties in the state of Alabama. This community began in the early 1840s, residents settled on Piedmont as the name, in 1888. Piedmont is included in the Anniston-Oxford, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. This city is in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and is surrounded by beautiful mountains on the south and east sides of Piedmont. Dugger Mountain, is located here and is Alabama’s second highest point, trailing Mt. Cheaha – not far from here. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, visiting this city is for you, with breathtaking bike and hiking trails – that are surrounded by mountains, rivers and streams. Piedmont is home to Terrapin Creek, which is great for kayaking, canoeing, fishing and camping. Not only is Piedmont home to the beautiful scenery of Terrapin, but also to the Chief Ladiga Trail, where people are cycling, walking or running, this is a paved trail with some breathtaking views. Chief Ladiga Trail runs through downtown Piedmont and runs all the way to Atlanta.
