Jacksonville is a city in Calhoun County, AL. It is included in the Anniston-Oxford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Jacksonville is the home of Jacksonville State University, which is one of the largest employers in the area. The city was founded in 1833 and gets its name in honor of President Andrew Jackson. In town, you can find some civil war monuments.
In this charming city, the Public Square is a great place to visit, JSU pep rallies are held here, city festivals and locally owned businesses who treat visitors like family. The Jacksonville Public Square is downtown and considered part of an historic district which makes this the gathering place and heart of the city. The Community Center in Jacksonville hosts several events and brings the community as well as the county together.
In March of 2018, an EF3 Tornado hit the city, making this a large loss event at the University. Being well connected in our community at Jacksonville, SERVPRO got the call for storm damage cleanup, which comes with a lot of water damage – making this a large catastrophic event. We stepped in, in a great time of need to serve our community in Jacksonville, getting the campus back up and running. The students were out on Spring Break at the time of this disaster and relief efforts poured in quickly and a lot of volunteers in and around Calhoun County came together as one to help during this tragic time.
