The tornado outbreak of March 3rd, 2019 was a deadly severe weather event that affected the Southeastern United States. Over the course of only six hours, a total of forty-one tornadoes touched down across portions of the Southeast. On that afternoon, a violent and long-tracked EF4 tornado struck portions of east Alabama and west Georgia - it was the strongest and deadliest tornado in that outbreak. It only took 29 minutes for that tornado to carve out 27 miles of land in Lee County on that day in March of 2019. This tornado took the lives of 23 people, including four children. It was absolutely devastating for our community.
