Yacolt, Washington, Clark County is a small town located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains and in the shadow of  Mt. St. Helens. To reach Yacolt, travel will take place on the Scenic Route in North Clark Co. Yacolt residents take pride on rural small town country living with access to larger cities, including both Vancouver, WA. and Portland, OR.

On July 31st, 1908, Yacolt was officially incorporated as a town.

The Yacolt name was derived from the Klickitat word “Yahkohtl” meaning “haunted place” or the Indian word meaning  “place abounding in evil spirits”. Another name it was known by was “the valley of lost children” derived from an incident in which fire children were lost while picking wild berries, the story states the Yacolt demon had gotten them.

In 2019, Yacolt has a population of 1,796. Residents live a rural feel. Most residents own their homes. Home to several coffee shops and parks. The public schools are above average and located in the Battle Ground School District. SERVPRO has been the company called for structure damages Yacolt High School has suffered. Yacolt is home to North Clark Little League.

In September 1902, the largest forest fire in recorded state history devastated 350 square miles of Clark, Cowlitz, and Skamania counties. The wildland fire reached the very edge of Yacolt, then turned north. Yacolt was mostly spared, however, the devastation was felt by the destruction of nearby homes and buildings. Before rains began the blaze had taken 38 human lives, killed countless wild and domestic animals, and destroyed at least $30 million worth of lumber (at 1902 prices). At least 148 families lost their homes and the largest timber company in the world was forced to rewrite its business plan, which started a years-long economic boom in Yacolt.

Yacolt is known for its majestic beauty making this a place to go for outdoor recreation and history visuals.

Chelatchie Prairie Railroad runs a vintage steam locomotive on a 10-mile ride from Yacolt to the Lewis River valley.

Silver Star Mountain, Pomeroy Living History Farm, Lucia Falls Regional Park and Moulton Falls are known for nature and wildlife, swimming, picnic spots and amazing hikes. Moulton Falls Winery in Yacolt offers a variety of wines for tasting.

SERVPRO has built a trustworthy reputation as the company to call for fire clean-up restoration and water damage mitigation and restoration.

"... To reflect on the previous year, I want to offer my sincere thanks for all that you do for the Red Cross. We have had an extraordinary 6 months.  Wildfires in Southern and Central Oregon, the tragedy at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg and finally responding to the many storms that have brought rain, winds and landslides to Southwest Washington and Oregon. I am honored to be able to work with you and humbled by your dedication and commitment to the Red Cross. Sincerely, Curtis."

Despite planning and preventive maintenance, things occur out of your control. In the past year we experience three separate/unrelated events which required immediate mitigation. On all three events Tim and his team at SERVPRO saved our bacon, making the experiences far less stressful for my staff and our Residents. During our most recent event Tim answered his phone and was out to our building, along with his assistant, within an hour to begin assessing our situation. Within 2 hours Tim had a mitigation crew working on clean-up. Given the nature and extent of the event we were realistic that it could take into the following afternoon to get the place back to operating condition. However, Tim's crew was somehow able to get the place back up and ready before the end of the business day. They were incredibly thorough. In addition, his crew was exceptionally friendly and great to work with throughout their time onsite. When the invoice arrived I felt the price was very fair---especially considering the quality of work and response time. Two of the events involved insurance claims, which Tim and his team at SERVPRO managed directly, saving us time and stress. If you're a business owner, or any kind of property owner, I strongly recommend reaching out to this SERVPRO office and setting things up in advance, just to be safe. You will be glad you did. I cannot recommend these folks enough.
