Ovilla, Texas is a historic snapshot of a town located in Northern Ellis County on upper Red Oak Creek and boasting the title of the oldest town in the county with a settlement date stretching all the way back to 1844.  Current residents of this self-proclaimed “Small Town Big Heart” suburb enjoy easy access to the amenities of big city life without the headaches of traffic and congestion.  Even in the smallest towns, residents can experience many varieties of property damage due to water, fire, smoke, mold or biohazard.  When the people of Ovilla are in need of restoration, SERVPRO will be there to make it “Like it never even happened”.



Deriving it’s name from the Spanish word “villa”, Ovilla was born through the formation of a school and church that shared a single humble log cabin.  By 1872 the community had grown into a bustling town center with all the quintessential shops, mills and businesses that came along with that development.  Despite devastating fires that destroyed the majority of the downtown buildings in both 1918 and 1926, the farming community was thriving.  However by 1930 the growth of nearby larger communities and the lack of access to major railways or highways had started the gradual decline of Ovilla’s population. 



Now Ovilla is experiencing a renewed growth as professionals are leaving nearby urban centers in favor of Ovilla’s slower paced community and short 20-minute commute to one of the largest cities in Texas. The lure of this sleepy town for young families resulted in a population boom that has given new life to this picturesque Texas jewel, but the heart of the community has remained the same.  Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the original church that shared it’s humble log cabin with the town’s first school still stands today actively serving the community it helped build.
