Medina, TX is between the intersection of State Highway 16 and Farm Road 337. It was established in early 1865 when there was a sawmill built, then slowly the area began to grow into a small town. There was the Medina post office in the 1880’s, then by the end of 1899 the community had a gin, corn mill, a hotel, a private bank, two churches, three stores and a population of 150. Slowly the population grew to 400 but then went back down to 250 during the great depression when people left in search of jobs. Many of the local residents' primary occupation is raising stock. After the great depression the town quickly recovered and many businesses and churches began to open. In the late 1940’s there were 475 residents living in Medina, TX.

The Texas Department of Agriculture also declared Medina, TX the Apple Capital of Texas. There were over 300,000 trees in the Medina area that produced over 100 tons of fruits in the 1990’s. Medina, TX is highly known for their Medina Apple Festival that is normally held on the last Saturday in July. This event attracted more than 20,000 visitors and it has just increased over the years. Many people love to go to Paradise Canyon which is a recreational center. Many locals would host their cabin weddings here since they also have cabins where people can stay and enjoy the park, fishing with family and more.
