Restoration Services in Harmaston, Texas

Harmaston is a small, historic community on the northwestern edge of Lake Houston in northeastern Harris County, founded more than a century ago as a timber settlement along the Beaumont, Sour Lake and Western Railway. Though much of the old townsite has faded into the wooded countryside around the lake, the name still marks a quiet stretch of pine forest, rural homesteads, and newer homes that have grown up where the San Jacinto River feeds into Lake Houston. Families here value the trees, the water, and the space, but that same low-lying, heavily wooded setting carries real risk when water, fire, smoke, mold, or storms arrive. SERVPRO of Lake Houston serves Harmaston around the clock, every day of the year, with certified local crews who know these back roads and respond fast, because in restoration the speed of the first response often decides how much can be saved.

Water Damage Restoration in Harmaston

Water damage is the emergency we see most often in Harmaston, and it comes from many directions. A pipe bursts in a utility room, a water heater fails, an appliance line lets go, or a roof leak from a falling pine lets rain into the attic. The larger risk is the water all around this community. Heavy Gulf rains and tropical systems swell the San Jacinto River and raise Lake Houston, forcing dam releases that have flooded low-lying property in northeastern Harris County, as Hurricane Harvey did in 2017, and the February 2021 freeze split pipes across the region overnight. Our water damage restoration process begins by stopping the source and mapping the full reach of the moisture, including the water that soaks into drywall, subflooring, and wall cavities where it cannot be seen. With moisture meters, infrared cameras, and professional extraction and drying equipment, we remove standing water and dry the structure back to its normal moisture level, documenting every reading for your claim. Because thorough water damage restoration is what prevents a hidden mold problem later, we monitor drying daily and confirm the structure is dry before we close out the job.

Fire Damage Restoration in Harmaston

A fire is a frightening event for any Harmaston household, and the damage spreads far past the area the flames reach. Smoke and soot move through a structure and settle into walls, ceilings, ductwork, and belongings, leaving stubborn odors that everyday cleaning cannot remove. Kitchen fires, electrical faults, dryer fires, fireplace and chimney fires, and the brush and wildfire risk that comes with dry spells in a heavily wooded community each create their own residue and challenges. Our fire damage restoration process starts by securing the property and handling the water left behind by firefighting, then moves through soot and smoke removal, cleaning or removal of affected materials, and odor treatment at the source with hydroxyl generators and thermal foggers that neutralize smoke odor down to the molecular level. Our technicians hold IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration and Odor Control certifications, so the work follows proven methods. Throughout fire damage restoration we document each phase for your insurance carrier and coordinate the scope with your adjuster, so your recovery keeps moving and your property is returned to the way it was before the fire.

Mold, Storm, and Specialty Services

Water and fire are only part of what can threaten a property in Harmaston. The warm, humid climate and the shade of the surrounding pines make mold a steady concern, and our IICRC certified crews handle mold remediation from the moisture source through containment, removal, and final cleaning. We also respond to storm and flood recovery, a frequent need this close to the San Jacinto River and Lake Houston, with water extraction, structural drying, debris removal, and emergency board up and roof tarping to secure a property right away, including the roofs that take a hit when a tall pine comes down in high wind. Beyond the emergencies, we provide sewage and biohazard cleanup, air duct and HVAC cleaning, general and specialty cleaning, and contents packout and restoration that protects your belongings while the structure is repaired. Because we also handle full reconstruction, we carry a project from the first emergency call through the final rebuild. As part of the SERVPRO Team Shaw family and the national SERVPRO Disaster Recovery Team, with offices in all fifty states, we can scale from a single room to a regional disaster.

Working With Your Insurance Company

A property loss is stressful enough without fighting the paperwork, so SERVPRO of Lake Houston works directly with your insurance carrier from the very first call. We document the damage thoroughly with photographs, moisture readings, and a detailed scope of work, and we communicate clearly with your adjuster so your claim keeps moving and closes without unnecessary delay. We hold national account status with most major carriers and bill them directly whenever possible, which keeps your out-of-pocket costs and your stress to a minimum. Whether the loss is a burst pipe in a Harmaston home or a flooded property near the river, our promise is the same. We respond quickly, we treat your property and your time with respect, and we work until the damage is made “Like it never even happened.”

In life you often hear of tragic events that happen to someone else but never expect those types of events to happen to you. On September 22nd, 2025 it happened to my family. My wife and I were in the emergency room with my 92 year old mother from very early on that day keeping us away from our home until late that evening. I stayed with my mom in the emergency room and my wife went home to get some much needed rest. The plan was to relieve me the next day. When she walked in our home that night she stepped in water. As you can imagine she was in a panic. I could not leave my mother alone so I called my neighbors who graciously came to help my wife. My next call was to SERVPRO. Jerry and his crew mobilized and showed up within two hours. He quickly accessed the situation and immediately began to mitigate certain areas to prevent more loss. He updated me every step of the way on the progress during the night which gave me and my family much needed peace of mind. The feeling of helplessness I endured in the beginning by not being able to be on site was quickly alleviated by Jerry’s calm, reassuring demeanor.

I hope no one reading this ever has to go through what we went through but they happen more often than we realize. Two things I learned throughout this process -

1) We are so blessed to have special neighbors who will help drop what they are doing and come help you in a pinch day or night and -

2) Call a company like SERVPRO who has management that are extremely wise enough to hire professional people like Jerry and his crew.
