Lewisburg is the county seat of Marshall County, and home to 12,483 residents according to the 2021 census. Lewisburg was incorporated in 1837 as a trading center for livestock and farm produce. Located in the rolling hills of Tennessee, Lewisburg was named after well known explorer Meriwether Lewis, leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It has served as the world headquarters of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association since 1939. Lewisburg is located off of I-65 and sits almost directly between Nashville and Huntsville. Nashville is located 50 miles to the north and Huntsville is located 52 miles to the south of Lewisburg.
The biggest draw to visitors of Lewisburg is festivals such as the Goats, Music, and More Festival which highlights the famous “fainting” goats. It also has a multitude of historic churches and the Marshall County Community Theatre located in downtown Lewisburg. As well as the historic downtown square located in central Lewisburg, it also has plenty of shopping located to both the east and west of downtown Lewisburg.
With a town that has a small town feel while offering the appeal of tourism from all the local festivals, Lewisburg has it all.
