Fayetteville is the largest city in Lincoln County, TN with a known population of 6,989 as of 2021. Fayetteville was the second county seat legally mandated in the United States. Fayetteville is not only known for its historic downtown but also as the location of historic Camp Blount. Camp Blount is a park owned by the state of Tennessee that is preserved by the City of Fayetteville and offers walking trails to see where General Jackson assembled troops for the Creek War. Camp Blount was the location for the Tennessee Militia to camp out before going on to fight the Battle of the Horseshoe Bend in 1814. To this day, visitors and history lovers can watch reenactments of this period from time to time. Historical downtown would also be created during this period and was almost all crafted by log or frame structures until the 2 disastrous fires consumed the West Side, in which all the structures were replaced by brick constructions.
