History of East Cleveland

The town was established in 1866 and is known for its long history of good Southern hospitality and an economy based on agriculture and manufacturing. Because of its close proximity to Cleveland, much of its history is the same. After the Civil War, much of East Cleveland had a growth spurt, with many new residents making their way to Tennessee. East Cleveland is close to Lee University in northern Cleveland. Coahulla Creek also runs through East Cleveland.
