Dyersburg, TN was founded in 1825 by Joel H. Dyer and John McIver. Dyersburg was named in honor of Colonel Robert H. Dyer, an Indian fighter. With fertile soils and plentiful stands of timber, Dyer County was made of a rich farming country. When Dyersburg first started producing crops of corn and tobacco which were replaced in the post-Civil War era by cotton and the timber industry expanded. Dyersburg grew as a river town as it is stationed at the head of steamboat navigation on the Forked Deer River. Its first successful steamboat trip was in 1836 made by the boat Grey Eagle.

In 1967, Dyersburg was chosen by the Tennessee State Board of Education as the location for the second community college in western Tennessee. Dyersburg State Community College began its first classes in 1969 and had its first graduate's complete degrees in 1971. Dyersburg State was started as the state of Tennessee’s response to the 1957 Pierce-Albright report to the state’s Legislative Council, which led to a plan to place postsecondary institutions within 30-50 miles of each Tennessee resident. Dyersburg State Community College is currently operating 3 locations in West Tennessee, Dyersburg, Trenton, and Covington.

I called Servpro at 6pm and they were at our house with 1.5 hrs and worked over 6 hours til early morning getting the leak stopped, water out and drying equipment set.
