It is between the lowland mountains and hills, close to the Tennessee River where it meets the Ohio River. History of Corryton

Corryton, Tennessee has a rich history with diverse backgrounds and cultures that have shaped the town into what it is today. The area was first settled by pioneers who came from North Carolina and Virginia in the late 1700s. Corryton was officially established as a community in 1828 when the Stagecoach Inn opened for business, but it was not until 1867 that a post office named after Mr. Thomas Corry opened in the area. Corryton began as a coal mining town in the early 1900s and grew to become an agriculture-based community.
