Saint George is a small town in the heart of Dorchester County, South Carolina.  The town's growth centered around the railroad that went straight through it, the South Carolina Canal and Railroad Company was one of the first railroads built in the United States, and was one of the first to offer scheduled passenger trains that were pulled by steam locomotives, which came straight through St. George.  But what the small quaint town is really known for is its annual World Grits Festival which started in 1986.  The festival started when local grocery store owner John Walters discovered that the area was known to consume more grits per capita than any other place across the entire world.  The event takes place in mid-April when 10,000 people descend on the small town of only 2,000 people and go wild for grits with a celebration which features food, music and games.  People turn out specifically for the contest which features people who roll in a vat of grits and weigh the grits that stick to them to find out who has the most, they are declared winner.  But when the residents of St. George aren't enjoying a good bowl of grits they are making sure they are prepared for what the elements can throw at them, and they make sure they have a good option for fire and water damage restoration.
