Parksville, SC is located in McCormick County and is the only town situated on Thurmond Lake. It was named for Richard Parks in 1882 by his son William Lewis Parks when the Augusta & Knoxville Railroad was constructed through his town. The town by Act of Incorporations has forbidden liquor sales for 99 years. Price's Mill, one of the few remaining gristmills in the United States is located in Parksville. Parksville borders on Lake Thurmond and is close to the city of McCormick and blends historical significance with modern amenities and rich natural resources.
