Parker, South Carolina is census-designated place in Greenville, South Carolina. With a population of over 11 thousand people, it is a large part of Greenville's community and hosts a slew of history to the Upstate of South Carolina. The Parker High School, which opened in 1923 is still standing as a relic of the founding of the current school system. The school was named after the president and founder of the areas main economic business, Monaghan Mill. Thomas Parker worked hard to develop a community around the mill, including the school, churches, and YMCA programs for the communities youths. While the school closed in 1985, the structure still remains as a reminder to the community of its foundation.
